In 2013-14 I worked alongside ex-miners and their families to create ‘Diggin’ Up Black Gold’. This community event was researched, developed and performed as site responsive theatre pieces on the street, in shops, on buses and in pubs to mark the 30th anniversary of the miners strike. The material was drawn from first person testimonies reflecting a difficult episode in the Dearne Valley area of South Yorkshire whilst valuing the present and marking new hopes and wishes for the future.
