Born in the Dearne Valley area of Barnsley, South Yorkshire I was awarded a place into 1993 Manchester Youth Theatre aged 16. With financial support from my Grandfathers mining pension; without him, I would not be able to begin the journey that I am on today.
I left Manchester’s Arden School Of Theatre (under Wylie Longmore) in 1998 with a BA in acting and have since worked Nationally and Internationally in theatre, TV and film.
In 2014 I began producing my own community consultation work. Each project is carefully researched, developed and created through verbatim and documentation methods resulting in live performance. Challenging space, scale and style, we tell stories in bars, living rooms, on busses. Using my own heritage, identity and experience, each new work has the peoples voice at its core. Each new project is community sourced, community led, unlocking stories to be presented back to participants, their families and a wider audience.
I currently live in Todmorden, nesseled in the Upper Calder Valley within easy reach of Manchester and Leeds.
